Who nervous learner lessons are for

Calm, no-pressure lessons with instructors who take things entirely at your speed. Anxiety is welcome here — many of our learners feel exactly the same.

Nervous driver lessons are for learners who want extra patience, reassurance and time to build confidence behind the wheel. You might be completely new to driving, returning after a difficult lesson or test experience, or finding particular roads or situations stressful.

There’s no pressure to progress at somebody else’s pace. Your instructor will work from where you are now, explain what you’re doing before introducing something new and give you time to become comfortable with each skill.

How lessons for nervous drivers work

We start at a level you’re comfortable with and build things up gradually. Early lessons can take place on quieter roads while you get used to the car, your surroundings and making decisions without feeling rushed.

As your confidence develops, we’ll introduce more challenging situations one step at a time — such as busier junctions, roundabouts, traffic and manoeuvres — rather than throwing everything at you at once.

You’ll still develop the skills needed to become a safe, independent driver, but the pace is shaped around you. If something doesn’t feel comfortable yet, we can spend more time on it before moving on.

Getting started

You don’t need to feel confident before your first lesson — building that confidence is part of the process. Tell us if there’s anything you’re particularly worried about so your instructor knows how best to support you from the start.

What if I’m extremely nervous about driving?

That’s fine — tell us when you enquire so we can take it into account from the beginning. Your lessons can start slowly in quieter surroundings, and your instructor can spend as much time as needed on the basics before introducing more challenging driving situations.
