Who pass plus are for

Pass Plus is a post-test course that builds real-world confidence on motorways, dual carriageways, in town, at night and in all weathers — and some insurers may offer a discount after you complete the course.

Pass Plus is for drivers who have already passed their practical driving test and want more experience in situations they may not have covered extensively while learning.

It can be particularly useful for newly qualified drivers who want more confidence on motorways, dual carriageways, rural roads, in busy traffic or when driving at night.

Because you’ve already passed your test, the focus is on developing your experience and confidence rather than preparing you for another driving test.

How Pass Plus works

Pass Plus is a practical training course covering six areas of driving: in town, in different weather conditions, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways.

There isn’t another practical test at the end. Your instructor works through the different areas with you and assesses your driving as the course progresses.

The aim is to give you experience beyond the situations you encountered while learning to drive and help you become more confident driving independently in a wider range of conditions.

Getting started

You need to have passed your practical driving test before taking Pass Plus. You don’t need to take another theory test or practical test to complete the course.

If you’ve recently passed and want to build your experience, get in touch and tell us where you’re based. We’ll check instructor availability and talk you through arranging your Pass Plus training.

Is there a test at the end of Pass Plus?

No. Pass Plus is based on training and assessment rather than another practical driving test. Your instructor will work through the different areas of the course with you and assess your driving as you progress.
